Scene Queen hits the billboards with her new EP, which drops on the 11th of September. We at Rampage have been given the inside scoop to check out for our readers. So without further ado, let’s have a look at this sweet little EP.

Pink Flip Phone

Intro tracks being short and sweet isn’t something I’m quite used to with EPs, but it made me appreciate the track for what it was. the chuggy guitar paired with Scene Queen’s unique vocals made an easy sell for me; reminding me very quickly of the iconic Scene Queen sound and attitude.

Manicure

This track had me moving from its start to its finish, as though I were listening to it live. The way Scene Queen threatens violence so sweetly, weaving such threats within her music reminds the listener just how much Scene Queen champions all women in the scene (thematic, right?). It’s clear her original concept and image is never far as she evolves as a musician, which deserves incredible commendation. Stream this track where you can, this absolutely bangs.

Shopaholic

What a relatable title. Scene Queen certainly gets what she wants, when she wants and knows how to give that energy back to the girls. This track had a much slower, calmer intro than I had expected, which abruptly hit me in the face with awesome fry screams which are a total weakness of mine in metal. Shopaholic will definitely be hitting my playlists on the day of release!

Drop Dead Gorgeous (feat. TX2)

I have to say I’m not much, if anything of a TX2 fan. Their music just isn’t for me, which meant I had no expectations for this track. I will say, TX2’s vocals do compliment Scene Queen’s in a way I wasn’t expecting. this collaboration was clearly thought out and worked on with care. However, I couldn’t help but find myself thinking that Drop Dead Gorgeous might’ve found its footing better as a solo track from Scene Queen, as she clearly took a large lead in the creative process behind this song.

Tracksuit

Tracksuit felt more like your typical metal song on the EP. which i wasn’t quite expecting. The themes in the lyrics reminded me of the Kill Bill series in the best way possible! A lil cheesy, but full of all out brawls. What an awesome imagery thought up by this artist. Tracksuit is one hundred percent my favourite track on this entire EP. What do you think of Tracksuit?

T!ts Out At Brunch

This track put the iconic bimbo-core imagery of Scene Queen at the forefront of my mind throughout. If you’re looking for more of that classic Scene Queen charm, you’ll find it in abundance here. This track felt as though I’d hear it back when Scene Queen first made a splash in the metal scene. How nostalgic.

METALICIOUS (feat. Left To Suffer)

Starting out with a synth pop-esque intro, METALICIOUS walked in and told you where to be; hitting the mosh! It builds a nice breakdown with a pretty cool little fakeout that had me sat waiting quite excitedly. Left To Suffer lent awesome screams to this track, with their parts on the song being the most interesting to me. This song is a stark contrast to the other feature present on this album, wherein I found myself wanting more from Left To Suffer. I did find this song catchy in the first half, but found it a little repetitive for me toward the latter half of the track. Do give this track a listen, it is worth it for the fusion of sound from both artists alone.

All in all, I think this EP may have been better off a series of singles as i found each track quite different from one another. There are some awesome gems here though, and I’d be out of my mind to not give Scene Queen the recognition they deserve for such intricate, iconic art.
